ok i lied

So I'm back again. A few things happened today that I wanted to share.

1st: Yesterday and today were track and field so I've been wearing sunglasses outside both days. So one of my girls came up to me today and said, "You know Ms. Ewing, your face looks better with sunglasses on.".....Um, thanks?

2nd: Angie and I went to a new class at our gym called Zumba. It's a dance class, and it is AWESOME! (I especially liked the fact that the music was all Spanish rap that Stephanie and I would listen to in high school and dance around to upstairs at her place.) This cute Hispanic girl was teaching it and there was a lot of hip thrusting. Half the time I wasn't sure if I was supposed to push my butt backwards or my hips forward. The teacher kept looking at me though (because I was dumb enough to raise my hand when she asked if anyone was new to Zumba) and I know she was thinking I was a crazy uncoordinated white girl. Which, I guess I am. However I now have a new goal for the summer. Salsa dancing! Although I don't think my hips work right for it.

3rd: Way to keep it current American Idol. In the first 30 minutes their guest performers were: Alice Cooper, the Bee Gees, and Michael McDonald. I wish I was kidding.

been a long time

Yes, I know, it's been a long time. And many apologies for that. It has been crazy lately with the end of school, etc. I have had people ask why I am not posting anything, and that's why. Also don't get excited, because this is almost the end of this post. Here is something for your viewing pleasure until I get my life back.

This man was riding his bike near mine and I loved his old school headphones. In case you can't see, it's the kind where on the actual ear pieces is the radio tuner. I wonder how long he's had those old things. Also how they are still working. Finally, I hope he was listening to hard core rap on those things. Hopefully since summer is about to start I will have many exciting things to discuss!

holy cow...

So today was an interesting day. One of my parents came up and said that her daughter has been getting quite an education on the playground from another student. I asked what was going on, and apparently her daughter is being told all about sex, and that "your private parts have to go together before you get married." So not only is her daughter finding out about sex, but she's also getting a modern take on sex. She then said they had a long conversation about sex because she wanted to make sure her daughter was getting accurate information.

I did not have this conversation with my mom. THANK GOD! Instead, she handed me two books. One about sex, and the other about puberty. She then said, if you have any questions, let me know. Of course my friend Missy and I had already found these books, and read them several times, laughing at all the pictures. I love, looking back on it, that the people in the book were big fat people. After looking these books up, I looked at the pictures inside, and I love all the graphics to help you understand better. Who knew sperm was so romantic?

So back to my day. The mom then tells me on Friday, the same girl told her daughter all about abortion! And that "you don't have to keep your baby. You can take a pill. My mom almost did it."....WHAT?! Shocked at what I was told, I walked and asked the assistant principal what I should do since I have never been in this position before with kids talk about abortion. I had to call the girls mom and tell her what is being said, and please talk to your daughter about what is appropriate for school. Of course I left out the part where I know that she may, or may not, have had an abortion.

bun run

I finished my first race on the path towards a half marathon! Jillian, Crissy and Jane ran it with me. My official time hasn't been posted, but Jane said we did it in about 39 minutes. It was really fun, and I can't wait for the next one! I'm thinking the next will be early June, for the Pride 5k. It ends with a slip and slide and a special finishers towel. I'm not quite sure if that towel remark is supposed to be an innuendo, but I am excited about the slip and slide. Below is my weekend in pictures.

We saw a superhero convention or something while we drove around Austin

Carson needed to get some rest before the big day.
Our numbers!
Before the race began.
At the water stops they were passing out cinnamon rolls. Of course Crissy got one and didn't realize she had icing all over her face. Unfortunately, you can only see a little bit of what was all over her. There was quite a bit more than that.
Almost done!
We made it!

The Heleniak's tried to make it down but didn't make it. They decorated my door instead. One of the yellow streamers said "Caution, Best Runner Coming!", and another said "Yahoo Ms. Ew! I love you!" It was super cute!
