bald head update

As some of you may remember, I have posted before about me possibly going bald. I've always had really thin hair, and I assume I will lose it all soon enough. (Hopefully not though.) When I saw Rebecca at Christmas she said she thought my hair was looking thicker, better. AWESOME! However, upon visiting Rebecca and Miles last weekend a picture was taken that makes me question her judgement.

I think I need to start using Mane and Tail again. Or taking those crazy ass pills. Ugh. Stupid genetics.

why, you look beautiful!

I went back to work this week. Boo. There are a lot of teachers at my school, so I really haven't had a chance to talk with everyone. Well today I had a great first conversation with one of the third grade teachers. Now let me say that she is so sweet (sickeningly so when you're in a bad mood) and I know she didn't mean any harm by what she said. Here was the first conversation we've had since being back in school.

Her: What happened to your hair?
Me: What do you mean? What's wrong with it? (It is in a ponytail)
Her: (She grabs the ponytail) There's nothing there!
Me: What are you talking about?
Her: I thought my hair was thin, but man, yours is crazy! It's like you have no hair to your name!
Me:....Yeah....

What does that even mean? I don't have any hair to my name? Whatever. It's just another reminder that I am, in fact, balding.

growing my hair back

I googled different hair treatments that I can use to help grow my hair back. I found several that seemed interesting, if not ridiculous. I went to HEB and found some of them.

I don't think I can realistically buy something intended for horses, although it does sound intriguing. After all, their hair is quite lovely.

This was Kelly and Em's idea. I am only 26. I don't think I can handle buying and using Rogaine.

This is what I settled on for the time being. Hopefully it was worth the $30 I spent on them.
I'll keep you updated on whether I grow my hair back, or if everything I do makes it fall out faster. I'm hoping for the first.

balding at 26

Yes, you read that correctly. I have had thin hair all of my life. This Thanksgiving I saw some pictures of me and noticed the top of my head looked a little thinner than normal:

I was nervous, but I was only 25, do I really need to worry about going bald? Apparently I do according to Ben, one of the second grade teachers sons who is in first grade. I was sitting on the carpet and he was telling me all about vampire bats as he sat in a chair behind me. He stopped mid screech (the vampire bat's noise of course) to say, "Ms. Ewing, I think you're losing your hair up here."

Thanks Ben. The honesty of children. Hearing this I knew it was time and that my denial was now over. After running at the gym I stopped by the pharmacy and asked someone what I needed to help me get my hair back. They recommended this:

There are several things that worry me about this. The first being the weird crystal on the front. The second is that they are drops and I have to drink it with water. Finally, on the back every claim they make as an asterisk next to it which if you looked at the bottom it says: "These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration." Awesome, so I have something that may or may not help me.

At this point I guess I should be willing to try anything. Thanks a lot genetics for making me bald at 26. Maybe I should start looking for good white girl wig lines...I wonder if you can put these drops in beer?
